| United Water must map plans
for Ambry Pond June 19, 2009 Letter in The Journal News Missing from United Water's discussion of the merits and flaws of building and operating a water treatment and desalination plant on the Hudson River in Haverstraw is a public study of an alternate source of water, namely the Ambry Pond reservoir in Stony Point. United Water owns all the land it needs to build such a reservoir. The land was acquired using eminent domain and the promise of a reservoir. If the desalination plant is approved, what happens to these properties, lands that some might claim were acquired using deception. These properties are extremely valuable, the location pristine, the water pure. Any decision on the desalination plant should be tied to a disclosure of United Water's plans for this land.
