Dear Preserve Ramapo supporters, In recent days the Chairman of the Ramapo Republican Party, cut a deal with Christopher St. Lawrence and Rhoda Schoenberger, both Democrats and close allies, that will place them on the Republican ballot line in the town wide election this November. As you might expect, rank and file Republicans are very unhappy with this “special accommodation” and want to have their say in the matter. In this spirit, two real Republicans have stepped forward to give voters a choice. Robert Romanowski will oppose Mr. St. Lawrence for Town Supervisor, and Mark Lerer will challenge Rhoda Schoenberger for Town Justice in the Republican Primary on September 15th. We have decided to support them in this effort. We have heard that very few self respecting Republicans will carry the St. Lawrence-Republican petition. However, if someone asks you to sign a petition with St. Lawrence’s name on it, please refuse to do so and wait to sign the petition for Romanowski & Lerer! If you are a registered Republican, you can carry a petition for Romanowski & Lerer. The nominating petition can be found by clicking here and you can print it out on regular 8.5 x 11 size paper. Any number of signatures will be helpful, even if you just collect a few from family, friends or neighbors. Make sure that the folks who sign the petition are registered Republicans and sign it in INK on the first line and print their names below on the second line. They should sign the petition with the signature that is on file for them at the Board of Elections. A printed name without a signature is not acceptable. You should personally witness all signatures. The petition carrier is allowed to fill in the signer’s address for them if necessary. Just remind folks that they must put in their actual street address and not a postal box. We can also provide lists of registered Republicans located in your area if you need them.
